Hyderabad: Illegal constructions under GHMC glare

Kukatpally: As part of its drive against unauthorised buildings, the GHMC in Kukatpally area has started serving notices on the inhabitants of several buildings. It also sealed some of the flats on Friday.

Kukatpally Deputy Commissioner P Prashanthi said, "We want to spread the message that illegal constructions will definitely be demolished and unauthorised building constructions can be no more tolerated. All illegally constructed buildings in Kukatpally circle were served notices and the action is being taken. As the unauthorised constructions are mushrooming, blackmailers are finding their way and demanding ransom amounts to keep the secret. A few officials are also lining up to pocket some amount to save the illegally constructed buildings. Such activities will not be tolerated anymore."

GHMC officials demolished some constructions in Bowenpally and Yellammabanda on Thursday. The civic body sealed two buildings in Addagutta on Friday and served notices to at least five buildings in each circle. The officials are also trying to create awareness among people regarding the illegal constructions and the threat they pose.
