About 60% of total cameras in the country installed in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Home Minister, Md. Mahmood Ali, on Thursday inaugurated the community CCTV cameras installed in the areas of Golconda, Humayun Nagar and Asif Nagar. A total of 200 CCTV cameras were installed in these areas.

Speaking at the occasion, the Home Minister noted, "About 60 per cent of the total cameras in the country are installed in Hyderabad. We have strengthened the police force by adding 27,000 new personnel in two phases to fill the vacancies in the police department. Apart from it, we have also allocated 33 percent of the recruitment of police candidates to women to ensure the safety of women and in order to increase the reach of police to the public Rs. 700 crore has been allocated for patrolling cars and with this facility the police is able to reach any area within few minutes."

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, said that CCTV cameras were playing a major role in prevention of crime and identification of criminals. He explained, "After the formation of Telangana, the Chief Minister of TS wanted to make Hyderabad a business center on the world map. According to NCRB, Hyderabad is considered to be the safest city in the country. CCTV cameras can be used to easily recognize culprits by using technology. With the use of technology, Hyderabad will soon move beyond Mumbai. CCTV cameras will be able to solve problems in other departments also."

The MLA of Karwan, Kausar Mohiuddin and other police officers were also present at the inauguration.
