Helping build profiles based on strong traits
It is a common observation that most of the decisions related to promotions and assigning critical opportunities are highly influenced by the personality strengths of the individuals.
Hyderabad: It is a common observation that most of the decisions related to promotions and assigning critical opportunities are highly influenced by the personality strengths of the individuals.
We have all seen many cases in our careers where mere strong technical skills do not necessarily ensure promotion to the leadership levels in an organization. After we make our feet wet, our personality traits start playing a greater and significant role in deciding our career progress.
Putting the theory into practice, Srikanth Nimmagadda has come up with a startup named, 'MyPIIN,' which claims to be a unique peer-to-peer endorsement platform that will allow individuals build their personality profile in a credible and shareable manner.
The startup aims to be a la CIBIL, India's leading credit Information Company, for a professional's personality. Just as CIBIL proves to be a revolutionary in helping make lending decisions across financial organisations, myPIIN aims to benefit all businesses and individuals in establishing and assessing one's personality and potential in making a professional impact.
The startup's unique framework is helping corporate, institutional employees and college students to capture their personality strengths and to build a profile that can be leveraged for many different purposes, including career-related decisions.
The name, myPIIN, stands for my Professional Impact Indicator. "In my experience in both New York and India, I was fortunate to have a rich and varied corporate experience with many opportunities to pursue at senior management level.
However, I observed that most of the businesses across the world are grappling with talent discovery and management problems, but at the same time, I saw a large number of employees in these organizations continue to feel that the management does not recognize the individuality.
Research proved that the regular appraisal system is failing to address such issues. The thought struck to my mind, and I just couldn't stop thinking about it. That's when, I decided to find a sustainable solution for the above universal problem and this led to myPIIN," said Founder & CEO myPIIN Srikanth Nimmagadda.
The startup allows individuals to capture their personality traits and build profiles that reflect how they have evolved over the years. Essentially, myPIIN aims to be the 'CIBIL' for a professional's personality.
"Imagine a world where seeing a person's myPIIN profile would help you know much about the person's personality strengths. The decision-making would become so much easier and faster with tremendous benefits for both individuals as well as to the businesses. Reference checks for any purpose would become more credible and faster too," added Srikanth.
The founder states LinkedIn to be the closest competitor extent of its endorsement feature. "However LinkedIn does not provide any reports and internal talent related insights to the businesses, and it does not focus on the student needs. We focus completely on individual's personality traits and that makes it a unique platform. Unlike LinkedIn, it focuses much on person's personality strengths," said Srikanth.
In the case of graduating students, a myPIIN profile (built during the college years) unlike typical resume takes the attention beyond just marks. It becomes a powerful and credible narrative of students' potential impact in the corporate career.
Highly qualified and experienced professors from Columbia Business School in New York and Dr TV Rao, who is considered to be the father of HRD in India, are acting as advisors for the startup. At present, there are more than 5,000 users of myPIIN and has established its credibility in more than 70 corporate companies across India.
