GHMC Zonal Commissioner, officials inspect relief works

Malkajgiri: GHMC zonal commissioner Shankaraiah, along with Deputy Commissioner of Malkajgiri circle K Venugopal, RDO Madhusudhan Rao and corporator Narsing Rao, toured various colonies in Malkajgiri circle to monitor rescue and relief works on Wednesday.

Heavy rains lashed the city on Tuesday, causing water-logging and inundations at several places across the circle. Zonal Commissioner monitored rescue and relief works at Safilguda, East Anandbagh, Vasanthapuri Colony, Railway Pumphouse, Anand Nagar and Gautham Nagar.

Speaking on the occasion, Shankaraiah said that instructions were given to GHMC monsoon response teams to identify water stagnation spots and ensure that stagnated water is cleared from roads.

GHMC teams swung into action and cleared stagnated water at East Anandbagh, Vasanthapuri Colony and Anand Nagar in Gautham Nagar division, he said.. Further instructions were issued to the GHMC staff to clear road blocks and facilitate smooth traffic flow. Special teams were kept ready for rescue and relief operations at problematic and low-lying areas, he said. Engineering officials, sanitation staff and local residents participated in relief works.
