GHMC to inspect old buildings in city
To avoid the Pune-like incident of wall collapse in the city, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Monday decided to take necessary actions to inspect the old building walls in city and to decide either to demolish or else repair the walls to avoid any untoward incidents.

GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore held a meeting with zonal officers, deputy commissioners and other officials over video conference at GHMC Headquarters. He instructed all the officials to take necessary actions to avoid the incidents like Pune, which claimed some 15 lives recently. Dana Kishore instructed the town planning officials and deputy commissioners to serve notices to the owners of the buildings, whose walls are in bad condition in Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills.
In the wake of the warning of heavy rain for the next two days by the Meteorological Department, the commissioner said that Monsoon monitoring officials should coordinate with the local deputy commissioners, town planning engineers and other officials and visit their respective allotted circles in the city.
Haritha Haram
As the monsoon begins, the state government will officially launch the Haritha Haram plantation in the next week or within 10 days, the commissioner said, and instructed the officials to be prepared fully before the plantation takes place in a large scale. Already one-crore saplings are ready to be planted in the city and tenders should be called for remaining saplings, he said.
Legal officers
The commissioner said they have more than 5,000 cases on the GHMC and to file counters on these cases as well as to handle the cases, they need to appoint 13 legal officers, he said. He also said that BC voters counting will be completed within two days. Additional commissioners Amrapali Kata, Shruthi Ojha, Advaith Kumar, Sandeep Jha, Enforcement Director Vishwajit Kompati and other chief engineers were present at the meeting.
