GHMC polls: SEC demands expenses details by January 18

Hyderabad: Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) has set January 18 deadline to all contestants in the recently GHMC elections to submit the poll related expenditure incurred in the civic body polls.

The Commission warned those who failed, the newly elected members would lose their membership and the unsuccessful contestant will be barred from contesting elections in the future. SEC P Partha Sarathi on Friday reviewed the status of submission of poll expenditure with the Returning Officers of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

The officials informed the commission that 999 contestants out of the total 1,122 already submitted the required documents and evidences on poll expenditures. The remaining 123 candidates are yet to furnish the details. "It is mandatory all the contestants should submit the details within 45 days after the announcement of the local body poll results," the official said.
