Hyderabad: In view of heavy traffic jams witnessed in Serilingampally zone which accommodates most of IT companies due to heavy rains on June 21 and 22, GHMC commissioner Dana Kishore met representatives of Nasscom, Cyberabad Security Council and Hysea to discuss measures to be taken to prevent such situations in future here on Tuesday. GHMC enforcement director Vishwajit Kampati and representatives of several IT companies attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Dana Kishore said that there was heavy downpour of 10.5 cm in Madhapur in the peak rush hour which led to heavy traffic jams and IT employees leaving for home were caught in traffic jams, causing severe inconvenience. He said that the meeting was organised to discuss the measures to be taken to avoid such situations in future. He said 31 critical areas were identified where are affected by inundation during heavy rains. At each point, two 10HP motor pumps are kept now to drain rain water, he said. Similarly, a cross drain, with the width of 1.5 m, would be built near the AC bus stop before Shilparamam to drain water quickly, he said. Cables and electric lines have been removed from the area.

Dana Kishore said that it is expaected that city may witness heavy rain during 20-25 days of heavy rain out of 48 days of rainy season. He suggested the representatives of IT companies to take measures such as changing office timings and sending employees in phased manner to help them control the situation during heavy rains.

Responding to the suggestions made by the Commissioner, the IT representatives expressed their readiness to cooperate with city administration in coping up with the situation. As the important policy decisions need to be taken by the companies, they suggested that he convene a special high-level meeting with IT companies.

Dana Kishore announced that a special meeting would be held on June 27 and the meeting would be attended by Cyberabad police commissioner, Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation MD and higher officials of various government departments.
