Yakutpura: Responding to complaints by the residents of Yakutpura area, several stray dogs were caught by the GHMC workers on Wednesday.

Following the increase of stray dog menace in Yakutpura area, the locals who were scared to travel through Rein Bazar area lodged complaint with the Civic authorities.

According to social activist Mohammed Abdul Rahman, based on his complaint, a total of 33 dogs were caught on Wednesday, by GHMC from areas like Rein Bazar, Talabkatta, Yakutpura and nearby areas. The threat of these dogs was increasing by the day and several incidents also occurred, where people were chased by these dogs.

As per estimates, there are more than 100 dogs in Rein Bazar division alone, and packs of them roam about in the areas like SRT colony, Madina Colony, Sadat Nagar, Talabkatta, Railway station and surrounding areas. Around 8-10 dogs are caught once in a week, but most of them are again released after 4-5 days by authorities, claiming that they have been vaccinated and sterilised, he added.
