Hyderabad: Factional differences within the Congress party in Manthani constituency have intensified, with rival groups of local leaders lodging complaints and counter-complaints with TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud and the party’s disciplinary committee against one another and senior leaders. On Saturday, a group of Congress leaders from Mahadevpur mandal, including Raja Babu and Asrar Qureshi, submitted a complaint at Gandhi Bhavan against Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamshi Krishna and Labour Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy. They alleged that the MP and Minister were sidelining dedicated Congress workers and favouring leaders associated with the BRS. The leaders alleged that official programmes were being organised without informing local Congress representatives who had worked for the party’s victory in the constituency.

They particularly objected to an event held at Koyuru attended by MP Vamshi Krishna, claiming that local Congress Sarpanch Konda Rajamma and the mandal president were not informed, while BRS sarpanches and leaders from Kataram, Mahadevpur and Malhar mandals were involved.

They also alleged that during a visit to Mahadevpur, Minister Vivek bypassed local Congress leaders and interacted with the local BRS mandal president. The complainants said such incidents had hurt the self-respect of grassroots Congress workers.

Seeking a comprehensive inquiry, they urged the party leadership to obtain explanations from the MP and Minister and take disciplinary action if the allegations were established. They also demanded that Vivek take moral responsibility for his alleged association with BRS leaders and resign from his ministerial post.

Meanwhile, another group of suspended Congress leaders from Manthani lodged a complaint with the TPCC leadership on Friday against Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, questioning the action taken against them.

They alleged that their participation in a charity programme involving the distribution of school bags to underprivileged children at Mallaram had been cited as grounds for their suspension. Claiming that the action was taken at the Minister’s behest due to local political rivalries and misinformation, they sought its immediate withdrawal. The suspended leaders affirmed their commitment to Congress ideology and said targeting grassroots workers would weaken the party’s organisational strength and benefit political rivals.

They urged Mahesh Kumar Goud and the disciplinary committee to conduct a thorough inquiry and revoke what they termed unjustified suspension orders. The faction led by Minister Vivek and MP Vamshi Krishna is making allegations against Minister Sridhar Babu on social media, claiming that he is not as innocent as he appears.
