Everything in nature created with a purpose

Shankarpally: World Environment Day celebrations were held at Pragati Resorts, here on Wednesday. The event was inaugurated by Dr GBK Rao, CMD of Pragati, along with Dr Karthikeyan, IPS (retd). Local farmers and children from various government and private schools attended the celebrations.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Karthikeyan said, "Everything in nature is created with a purpose." Man takes everything from nature and gives nothing in return, he said. He lamented that farmer who provides food is neglected by the governments. By following Pragati's way as shown by Dr GBK Rao farmers in India will become happy, healthy and prosperous, he said.

Dr GBK Rao speaking to the gathering said it was the responsibility of everyone to plant and grow trees. He referred to the rich cultural traditions of India, where all aspects of nature have been made an integral part of human life.

Prof Shiva Ram of NIRD spoke on waste management, and of how each village can become waste and pollution free area. He also said, NIRD is holding many programmes on converting waste into manure, which the farmers can avail of. RK Mehta of Bamboo Society of India, Dr Sarala, organiser of Amrutha Ahaaram programme at Pragati Resorts, also spoke.
