Earnest wishes for moon mission

1. About 16-minutes into its flight, GSLV-Mk III rocket will put Rs 603 crore Chandrayaan-2 into an Earth parking orbit.
2. From there, it will be a long journey for the Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft carrying lander-Vikram and rover-Pragyaan will travel further to the moon.
3. The distance between earth and the moon is about 3.844 lakh km.
4. On September 6, the Lander Vikram is expected to make a soft landing on the moon
5. Pragyaan will roll out to carry out in-situ experiments.

ISRO SET TO MAKE HISTORY

We will launch our second moon mission (Chandrayaan-2) on July 15 at 02:15 a.m., to land by September 6 or 7 near the lunar south pole, where no one went so far

The 640-tonne Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-Mark III (GSLV-Mk III), about 44-metre tall, is nicknamed 'Bahubali', just as hero in the film lifts a heavy Lingam, the rocket will carry the 3.8-tonne Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft

The mission, if successful, will make India only the fourth country after the United States, Russia and China to perform a "soft" landing on the Moon and put a rover on the lunar surface. China successfully landed a lunar rover in January this year.

"The countdown started at 6.51 a.m.," said K Sivan, Chairman of ISRO.

India's second lunar exploration mission that is set to launch will go down in history as the first space mission to be headed entirely by women in India – M Vanitha, the project director, and Ritu Karidhal, the mission director. Chandrayan-2 launch is an obvious mission for India, after discovering existence of water on Moon it's our responsibility to present the water samples to the world before any other nation does it. Excited about the launch and hoping a positive result out of it
