Quills Literary Club, RBVRR Women’s College, in collaboration with Food 4 Thought Foundation organised a book donation campaign. Over one hundred and thirty books were donated, they included dictionaries, novels and books on general knowledge.
Quills Literary Club, RBVRR Women's College, in collaboration with Food 4 Thought Foundation organised a book donation campaign. Over one hundred and thirty books were donated, they included dictionaries, novels and books on general knowledge. Food 4 Thought Foundation, a non-profit organisation, will be distributing these books to schools in villages to fulfil their mission to build libraries across rural India. Quills club will be provided with a tracking ID, which will enable them to track the location of the books.
The campaign was encouraged by the Principal of the college, Dr K Sarada. The donation drive was enthusiastically conducted by head, department of English, chairperson of Quills club, M Suchitra Reddy, faculty members Dr Jhilam Chattaraj, Dr Sumitra Jaiswal, Dr D Pankaja, Anupama K, Syeda Amroze Mehdi, Y Jayanthi, T Mercy Rani, and Dr Bhagavathi Putcha. Student volunteers of the campaign, Dhana Lakshmi, Asfiya Khannam, Chandana, K Megha, Pranathi, Anuksha, and Deepika spread the word about the donation of books among the students.
Mounica, a student of BA II year who donated four books said, "It is difficult to part with childhood books but the thought that someone will benefit from my act is satisfying". Dhana Lakshmi, BSc III year, one of the volunteers who contributed much to the donation drive said, "I love to read and for the first time, I am a part of a book donation camp, I am excited to participate in a program that will enable the culture of reading among children of rural India".
The campaign was the Club's effort to reach out to the wider community and spread the joy of reading among children in remote areas. Quills Literary Club along with Food 4 Thought Foundation wishes to engage the young energy of schools and colleges to make a difference and build an enlightened nation.
