With the rise of dengue and malaria cases in the city. The highest incidence of both viral fevers has been reported from Malkajgiri area. The Malkajgiri government hospital is witnessing around 500 outpatients every day coming with suspected viral fever cases out of which 100 cases are clinically proved with the vector-borne disease.

The Malkajgiri government hospital is witnessing around 500 outpatients every day coming with suspected viral fever cases out of which 100 cases are clinically proved with the vector-borne disease.

The facility is facing a shortage of beds to admit patients coming with viral fever. The doctors have to send back patients with mild and average fever home so that they can admit new patients in their place.

Speaking to The Hans India a senior official at Malkajgiri Government Hospital said, "We are facing a shortage of beds in the inpatient ward past 20 days as all beds is filled. We are asking mildly infected inpatients to return home and come back the next day so we could admit some new cases." He further added, "The work has also been hectic. As there is staff shortage, it is taking more time to attend all the cases.

Even if we could not admit them we are making sure they get temporary treatment and go back." The hospital staff has requested the authorities to upgrade the 50 bedded hospitals and make a 150 bedded facility. The staff shares that for the same a GO has to be issued which will be done soon in the next few days.
