Qutbullapur: Commuters passing through Chintal to Padma Nagar in the Qutbullapur division have been facing a lot of hardships due to the bad road, thanks to political nepotism. Although the inauguration was done for laying of CC road with an estimated cost Rs 4 crore in last September, the works are yet to begin. Anyone who travels on the route is sure to repent for electing his representatives.
On September 6, local MLA K Vivekananda and MLC Shambirpur Raju, the then MP and current Minister Ch Malla Reddy inaugurated the laying of CC road amidst fanfare and media blitz. The foundation stone, with the names of the public representatives proudly displayed, stands even today, but the political leaders have not shown the same vigour in ensuring the completion of the work, the locals lament.
There were allegations that the work tender for the laying of CC roads was given to a relative of a local politician who wanted to do a favour his relative. Although the work was delayed for long, no action was taken against him. However, GHMC officials, alarmed by the public anger, imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on the contractor recently but it seems that the action had made no impact on him as he is yet to initiate the works.
