The frustrated residents of Aman Nagar (B) in Talabkatta forced the Talabchanchalam division Corporator to inspect their areas and to complete all the pending civic works.
Yakutpura: The frustrated residents of Aman Nagar (B) in Talabkatta forced the Talabchanchalam division Corporator to inspect their areas and to complete all the pending civic works. Following heavy rains, the residents are not only facing problems like water logging, but even the pipelines, which supply drinking water are getting mixed with sewerage.
According to locals, after many a complaints by the residents to the local Corporator Nasreen Sultana about the issues and pending works in area, she was forced to visit their areas and inspect all the pending works and also assured to complete all works.
Several pending works in Aman Nagar (B) like the works of pipeline repairs and upgrading, applying new cement concrete roads and issues like polluted water in some houses, left unheeded and the complaints were neglected. After making many complaints over the pending works, the Corporator along with MLA and GHMC officials held inspection in the area. "We, the residents of this colony, have given many complaints to the Corporator about the sewerage overflow, polluted water and bad roads etc.
The works were started nearly two weeks ago and the roads were dugged-up for applying new CC road and since it was nearly two weeks, no further works were started," said Abdul Azeem, a resident.
Azeem also said that due to the digging of roads, residents were facing trouble and following continuous rainfall, the entire roads were filled with mud resulting in water logging. "We asked the officials to find out a solution for cleaning and clearing the road temporary of these hurdles, but they were ignored. This is nothing but complete negligence on the part of contractors, who left the problem unattended, while officials do not want to touch it," he lamented.
One of the lanes in Aman Nagar (B) area has been sanctioned a new pipeline works and the works were started around 15 days back. While the works remain pending and roads are dugged up, the locals are facing problems," said Mohammed Mohid, another resident.
He also said that there were many pending works in the area and all the works were left in a similar fashion. The officials have to perform their duty and complete their works on time, he added.
The residents in Aman Nagar (B) have also been receiving the contaminated water for the last eight days despite lodging many complaints and the issue remains neglected. "The water is being supplied is similar to sewerage water. It is pungent in odour and it cannot be used for any other purpose. We have small children at our homes and the water is not good for health. It is affecting the whole lane in area," said Kareem, a resident.
After several complaints, the Corporator inspected the area and she assured that the works would be completed soon. Hope the works would be complete as soon as possible, said Abdul Faheem.
Meanwhile, the Corporator assured to resolve the issues faced by the Aman Nagar (B) residents and all pending works will be completed shortly. "As the rains continue to lash, the pending works like laying of CC roads were held up," she added.
