Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said Savitribai Phule was a social activist, who fought throughout her life with a strong notion that fulfilment of the achievement of human rights is feasible only through winning the women's rights.
On the occasion of the country's first woman teacher Savitribai Phule's birthday on Tuesday CM KCR remembered her wisdom on social equality and historical contribution of the great lady to the Indian nation. The Chief Minister said Savitribai Phule dedicated her life to promote an egalitarian society, which fell apart with caste and gender discrimination and superstitions.
CM KCR said Savitribai's husband Jyoti Rao Phule's encouragement in this process is great and an inspiration for today's generation. The Chief Minister said Savitribai, despite facing many insults and humiliation in the path she chose for equal rights to weaker sections and women, encountered all hurdles and moved forward with great commitment. KCR said Savitribai fought with utmost determination against the hostilities. The Chief Minister called upon present generation to pursue the inspiration given by Savitribai as a social reformer, writer and a multi-talented woman, who committed to social reforms and for the country's development.
CM KCR said their ideas for social development and the country's growth are still relevant today. He said Savitribhai Phule's dedication to the service of the oppressed people till the last moment of her life is worth remembering always for the whole India.
The Chief Minister said the Telangana Government was continuing the spirit of Savitribai Phule and striving for equal rights for women. CM KCR said the Telangana government set an example for the country in achieving women empowerment by implementing many schemes and welfare programs in this direction.
