Banjara Hills: A breast clinic was inaugurated at CARE Hospitals by film director Nandini Reddy in the presence of Head of the Department of Gynecology Dr Usha Suresh, Senior Consutlant (General Surgery) Dr Ravinder Reddy, Sr Consutlant (Plastic Surgery) Dr Gyaneshwar here on Thursday.

Dr Riyaz Khan, the CARE chief operating officer, said, "emphasis will be on Triple Assessment services includes Gynaecology Consultation, General Surgery Consultation, and Plastic Surgery Consultation under Single Consultation package. The discounted Breast Screening Package offer is at Rs.1050." Breast cancer accounts for 14% of all cancers in women.

The package includes a clinical breast examination, a radiology screening in the form of an Ultrasound or Mammogram depending on the age and risk factor of the woman. It is believed that one of the biggest reasons for the high mortality rate is the late diagnosis which is primarily due to lack of awareness and the absence of a proper breast cancer screening programme.
