Bookchor fair great boon to bibliophiles
Bookchor.com a unique sale is back in the city for the second time for book lovers with lock the box sale, where customers can buy box of different sizes at respective prices and fill the boxes with books of their choice. There were over 1 lakh books on display across genres.
Hyderabad: Bookchor.com a unique sale is back in the city for the second time for book lovers with lock the box sale, where customers can buy box of different sizes at respective prices and fill the boxes with books of their choice. There were over 1 lakh books on display across genres.
Lock the Box sale opened its curtains on Friday for book lovers at Vasavi Kalyana Mandapam, Khairatabad and would end its sale on April 7.
This fair is little different from regular book fair. They have introduced three different sizes of boxes which can be purchased with one-time payment. You can carry the books in any box of your choice. These cardboard boxes come in three different sizes, graded by prices and also the boxes are named after the heroes of Greek mythology.
The books and authors on offer include: Penguin Classics, Jeffrey Archer, series of Sherlock Holmes, The Modi Effect: Inside Narendra Modi's Campaign to Transform India, children's books, tales from Shakespeare, Hitler's autobiography and many more.
Alok Sharma, co-founder of Bookchor.com, said, "I was in the fourth year of my graduation when we launched Bookchor.com, where we sell second-hand books online and just last year we started Lock the Box programme and we organised this event all over Indian states and the outcome is very overwhelming."
He further said, "in Hyderabad it is our second time and am surprised to see so much of rush on the first day itself. They are various collections of books which include non-fiction, fiction, religious, crime, children books. We had brought about 2 lakh books and 1 lakh books are displayed on the first day."
"When I read about this book fair news in the newspaper and I was excited to attend this fair," said a college student Sabu John. "I found many new authors, and was also surprised by the collection that was displayed over here. I brought Odysseus box, so that I can buy 8-10 books," said Geeta, a computer engineer.
Riya Sharma says she came to buy books for her kids, and the fair had a nice collection of fairytales .
T Abhinav said he specially came to buy non-fiction books "as I love them." Simran said, "I came over here last year and brought various books and had come this year also." B Rohan, another costumer, says: "Just 2 hours before I came to know about this book fair and came running to buy the books."
