Darulshifa: The BJP's Shia leadership decided to take up the issue of longstanding demand to rebuild and restore Jannat-ul-Baqi in Madina. As part of this, it began a signature campaign on Wednesday, 'with blood or ink,' which will be submitted in the form of representation to the Union Ministry for Minority Affairs to take up the matter at International level.

In this endeavour, the members of community in Old City were requested to sign the letter of representation with blood or ink (pen). BJP Spokesperson (TS) Mir Firasat Ali Baqri said that the letters would be submitted to Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to press for the demand to rebuild and restore Jannat-ul-Baqi in Madina, Jannat-al-Moalla in Mecca and other historical Islamic sites in Saudi Arabia.

"I am committed to raise awareness on the culture and heritage sites that have been demolished or on the verge of being destroyed, especially in the region, which is under the influence of Wahhabi ideology, among people. Your dedication towards uplifting our community is exemplary and I hope you use your influential position to bring this ignored issue on to the global platform," stated his representation signed with blood.

In June, commemorating the desecration of Jannat-al-Baqi in Saudi Arabia around 90 years ago, the members of Shia community also took out a rally. The procession started at Alawa e Bibi, Dabeerpura and culminated at Shabeeh (Replica of Jannat ul Baqi) at Chaderghat. A teak wood replica of Jannat ul Baqi, as it was prior to demolition, was carried and devout from across the city and neighboring districts paid their respects.
