Dharna Chowk: Demanding 50 per cent reservations to BCs in legislatures, a protest was staged here by Praja Parirakshana, a political platform formed for realising the goal of 50 per cent reservations with the support of 24 political parties, here on Thursday.

Political leaders from various parties and BC leaders participated in the protest. The protest was organised under the leadership of Naik, president of Praja Parirakshana. R Krishnaiah, BC association president, participated in the protest as chief guest.

Speaking to media during the protest, Krishnaiah emphasised on the need for providing 50 per cent reservations to BCs in legislative bodies. While the reservations were given in education and employment, BCs were not provided political reservations, he said.

The fact that 16 of 29 states do not have BC MPs reflects the current situation, he lamented. He urged various political parties to extend their support to the BC reservation bill introduced in Parliament recently by YSR Congress party.
