Hyderabad: Sahara, a voluntary organiaation organised an awareness camp for adolescent girls and young women from marginalized sections on menstrual health management.

Speaking on the occasion, Founder of Shakti Within and Ecofemme brand ambassador Urvashi Sareen informed the group on myths related to menstruation, menstruation cycle, health and hygiene during menstruation, various products available in the market and their effect on both health and environment.

A demonstration was organised to show the process of making a homemade sanitary napkin with easily available materials. Apart from that, the safe disposal was also explained. Dr Radhika Rohini informed the girls and women about importance of hygiene during the menstrual period and how maintenance of the same is needed for the reproductive health.

Girls were informed on pros and cons of different kinds of sanitary napkin and further information was shared on safe disposal including composting of biodegradable napkins.

The reusable eco-friendly napkins were also distributed on the occasion. Volunteer Jaya Reddy, Sahara staff and volunteers K. Rama, Ch. Maheswari, Shivani, Vanaja, and others extended their cooperation in organizing the camp and distribution.
