Khilwat: MIM floor leader in Assembly and Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi on Tuesday appealed to the voters of Old City to increase voting percentage by taking part in the polling on Thursday's Parliamentary elections. He was speaking at the grand public meeting on the concluding day of election campaign organised at Khilwat grounds.

Like his brother Asaduddin Owaisi, he expressed concern over falling voting percentage in different Assembly constituencies of the Old City, which came to light in the recently held Assembly elections. While exhorting confidence that none can defeat his brother in the polls, he asked the voters that this was the occasion where show of unity and strength will deter the detractors. "Our candidate would surely win, but this was the occasion where we can show how organised and united we are and with a one voice," he said.

While appealing voters to defeat 'communal forces' at the national level Akbaruddin said that not only constitution and secularism but also identity of minorities was at stake this time. Ridiculing the Modi's recent poll campaign in Hyderabad, he said that Modi could not say more about the opposition, in Hyderabad he blamed MIM for progress and in Kolkata he held 'Didi' responsible and termed as 'speed breakers'. Has he decided to become a driver now? He said to cheers from audience.

Speaking about the poll campaign of BJP he said that yesterday's Chaiwala and today's Chowkidaar was saving his face behind the Indian security forces. "What was this chowkidaar doing when terrorists attacked India, when gaurakshaks attacked their own fellow citizens, when Vijay Mallya and others fled after looting the nation. I believe this is how the tea kiosk lost its business and had to shift his profession," he derided.

Mocking the catch-phrase 'sab ka saath sab ka vikaas', Akbar held that none of the countrymen achieved vikaas during Modi's tenure, but those close to him received more than what they wanted. While referring to Amit Shah's name which was linked to Gurajat's cooperative bank post demonetisation for receiving highest amount of old currency and his son's fortunes and dramatic increase of his businesses, Akbar said that Amit Shah and ilk tasted the Vikaas. On the other hand he said that those who should have been behind bars for their alleged role in blasts in Muslim religious places got scot-free and these were the people tasted the Vikaas during Modi's tenure.
