They say self-help is the best help. Fed up with lodging complaints without eliciting any action from the officials of Qutbhullapur GHMC office, Chandrasekhar, a resident of NCL, hired three helpers and took up cleaning work in a 200-ft lane.
Qutubullapur: They say self-help is the best help. Fed up with lodging complaints without eliciting any action from the officials of Qutbhullapur GHMC office, Chandrasekhar, a resident of NCL, hired three helpers and took up cleaning work in a 200-ft lane. Thanks to the rains that lashed the city in the last few days, several low-lying areas were inundated.
an Several complaints lodged with GHMC go unheard
- Conditions become worse even with a light to moderate rainfall
- Unable to see the bad conditions, he hires 3 workers to clean the 200 ft lane
- Till date, he has spent Rs 16,000 on cleaning the area
Chandrasekhar said, "There are 200 residents in the colony. We requested GHMC to construct a check dam to control the water stagnation but there was no response. Someone closed the nala and as a result water was getting accumulated. I approached locals over here, but no one bothered, so I took the initiative to clean and spent around Rs 16,000 in this cleanliness drive."
"For the past four months we have been suffering. Even a moderate amount of rainfall made conditions in the area worse and things were becoming very problematic to the locals. Many times, I lodged complaints regarding the issue, but no action was taken. And whenever it rained heavily, next day the officials would visit our colony and take the pics of water-logging areas and go away. Till today, around 25 times I took up the cleanliness drive in the area," added Chandrasekhar.
