360 degree Swachh drive in all wards soon
GHMC aims to achieve better ranking in Swachh Survekshan 2020
Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is all set to launch 3600 sanitation cleanliness drive in all its 150 wards by involving all departments (Sanitation, Engineering, Town planning, Entomology, Urban Biodiversity, Veterinary, Urban Community Development, Enforcement and others) for clearing all pending short-term and long term sanitation issues and prepare a master data planning for future.
GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar held a meeting on Monday. They said, "In each ward an intensive drive will be conducted for 2 to 3 days based on the area. During this drive, 50 per cent of field staff from adjacent wards within circle will be mobilised to make the drive a success. The remaining staff will have to look after the regular sanitation activities without any lagging. Colony welfare associations, basthi committees and local activists should participate and make the drive successful."
They further added, "During the drive the existing/local ward field staff will become lead staff and the staff mobilised from adjacent wards will act as a supporting staff to the existing ones. The same method will be followed for all the wards till the completion of drive. This intensive drive will bring visible change by resolving all the issues related to sanitation. This Intensive Cleanliness Drive will help GHMC to achieve better rank in Swachh Survekshan 2020."
Components of intensive Campaign
- Intensive sweeping of garbage wastes in public places, commercial places and residential areas.
- Potholes repairing and cleaning on main roads. Debris lifting to the maximum extent.
- Cleaning of drains by removing solid waste materials and doing minor sewer repairs along with de-silting.
- Checking of manhole covers and points which are dangerous for public on lanes.
- Cleaning of transformers points, repair of street lights and levelling mounts of mud on roads in front of houses.
- Elimination of Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs). Repairing of broken footpaths and dividers and painting of central median.
- Elimination of open urination spots. cleaning and painting the surroundings of electric poles.
- Fogging and anti larval operations by entomology group along with detailed check of households. Resolving of issues related to stray dogs or any other animals.
- Ensure cleanliness in all public toilets including petrol pumps and restaurants with proper signboards.
- All shopkeepers to be instructed to maintain twin bins, if not penalties to be levied.
