MLA assures safe drinking water

Guntur: MLA Md Naseer Ahmed assured the people that every drop of drinking water would be supplied clean and safe.

He inspected the Takkellapadu Reservoir, Nehru Nagar and other ELS points in the city on Sunday. Following complaints that discoloured water was being supplied in some areas of Guntur city, he inquired about the purification process being followed at every stage.

He said raw water was being supplied to the Takkellapadu Reservoir from the Krishna River and that the water had changed colour slightly as it was being received from the Pattiseema project. However, he clarified that the purification and supply process was being monitored at every stage from chlorination at the reservoirs and cleaning of tanks to the final supply of drinking water.

He instructed secretariat amenities secretaries to inspect the water being supplied to households every day and ensure that at least one house out of every ten households is checked. He said there is no need for people to have any apprehensions, as clean drinking water was being supplied.
