Narasaraopet: Minister for HRD and IT Nara Lokesh inaugurated three newly constructed hostel buildings named Gauthami, Krishnaveni and Nagarjuna for girl and boy students at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada (JNTUK) Engineering College at Kakani village in Narasaraopet mandal of Palnadu district on Wednesday. He unveiled the plaque installed to mark the inauguration.

The college management, students and staff accorded a warm welcome to Lokesh upon his arrival at the college campus. Later, he formally inaugurated the new hostel buildings, constructed at a cost of Rs 70 crore to accommodate 1,600 students. He visited the entire hostel complex and inquired about the facilities provided for the students. Interacting with students and answering to their questions after the inauguration, Minister Lokesh urged the youth to make best use of the opportunities available to them and develop values. He said that government schools, universities and colleges have excellent teachers and faculty, but the system had suffered due to several reasons.

“I am working to bring about a transformation in the education system. Everything needs to be carried out as per the academic calendar,” he said. Lokesh stated that they are connecting colleges with industries so that students should be able to secure employment after completing four years of engineering education.

Later, he visited Trikoteswara Swamy Temple at Kotappakonda and performed pujas.

Palnadu district in-charge Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishnadevarayalu, Rajya Sabha member Bhashyam Ramakrishna, MLAs Dr Chadalavada Aravind Babu, GV Anjaneyulu, Julakanti Brahma Reddy and Bhashyam Praveen, Palnadu district collector Kritika Shukla, joint collector V Sanjana Sinha, JNTUK Vice-Chancellor CSRK Prasad, TDP zonal coordinator BT Naidu were among those who participated.
