Guntur: Guntur Municipal Corporation commissioner K Mayur Ashok directed sanitary inspectors to ensure that no garbage points are visible anywhere in the city within the next 15 days and to identify people dumping waste on roads and book cases and impose fines on them. He addressed a review meeting with sanitary inspectors at the GMC council meeting hall on Friday.

He said that special sanitation programmes were being conducted in the city under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ programme. He directed the officials to monitor street vendors and ensure that they did not dump business waste on roads. If any vendor was found dumping waste, action should be taken as per the rules, he said.

He said the special task force teams formed to effectively implement the plastic ban in the city were instructed to conduct surprise inspections at single-use plastic manufacturing units and commercial establishments. MHO Dr Suresh, Biologist Seshaiah, veterinary doctors, sanitary supervisors and sanitary inspectors were present.
