HDK questions Priyank Kharge’s role and responsibilities

Bengaluru: Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has stepped up his attack on Minister Priyank Kharge over alleged irregularities in the recruitment of RDPR engineers, amid the ongoing KPSC veterinary officer recruitment scam.

Kumaraswamy clarified that he was not directly accusing Kharge of committing the alleged irregularities but questioned the minister’s responsibility as head of the RDPR department at the time.

“I am not saying Priyank Kharge committed the irregularity. But what did the RDPR officials do? Priyank Kharge was the RDPR minister, wasn’t he? KPSC conducts the examination, but the government issues the orders. How were appointment orders issued to 24 people without the minister knowing? Wasn’t it his department that issued the orders?” Kumaraswamy asked.

He questioned why it took nearly one-and-a-half years to detect the alleged lapses and demanded that the circumstances surrounding the appointments be investigated. Kumaraswamy also hit back at Kharge over his remarks concerning a former KPSC chairman , saying he had met the former chairman in prison but only after the person had ceased to hold the post.

“I met the former KPSC chairman in jail. At that time, he was no longer the chairman. During his tenure, around 13,000 candidates were appointed. He did honest work and did not take even one rupee,” he said. He urged the government to conduct investigations fairly and not merely to create an impression of action.
