Flying training academy at Vijayapura soon: Patil

Bengaluru: Carver Aviation, based in Baramati, Maharashtra, has evinced interest in setting up a satellite flying training academy at Vijayapura airport, which is ready for inauguration. The initiative is expected to create opportunities for local students and youth. An official-level meeting will be held to discuss the proposal in detail and finalise its modalities, Infrastructure Development Minister M.B. Patil said on Wednesday.

The Minister held discussions with Carver Aviation Director Neville Bharucha and Manager Pramesh Parikh, who met him at Khanij Bhavan in Bengaluru. Speaking about the proposal, the Minister said the company has sought 2.5 acres of land adjoining the airport premises to set up its facility. If implemented, the project will facilitate flight training, aircraft maintenance, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and ground support activities at the airport. Once the flying training academy becomes operational, the company will be permitted to use the airport’s runway, taxiways and apron. The land sought by the company will be used for hangars, training infrastructure and facilities required for aircraft maintenance. The project will improve regional air connectivity in North Karnataka and generate hundreds of direct and indirect employment opportunities, he said.Carver Aviation has been operating since 1995 and is a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA)-approved flying training organisation.
