Bengaluru: All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Goa, Dinesh Gundu Rao on Sunday questioned the PM Cares Fund set up to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

"The Central government itself is involved in economic crime by setting up a fund called PM Cares. Is there any difference between many fraudulent schemes in the country and PM Cares? What does it mean if the government, which is supposed to help the people in the time of Covid, receives donations from the people and hides it without spending a dime?" Following the coronavirus pandemic in India, Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) has been set up, to undertake and support relief or assistance of any kind relating to a public health emergency or any other kind of emergency, calamity or distress.

"In May, an advocate in Karnataka's Shivamogga, VK Praveen Kumar had filed an FIR against Congress chief Sonia Gandhi for 'misleading' tweets on Prime Minister Care Fund. As opposition, we have a right to question why fund is not audited by CAG and demand that a report on substantial foreign donations received be made public?" Gundu Rao further added.
