Sympathy wave and local slogan fuel Ramesh’s Anantapur triumph
In Short
YSRCP candidate Chitluru Ramesh Goud secures the party's sole mayoral win in AP, leveraging strong BC credentials and local outreach in Anantapur.

Ramesh Goud
Anantapur: A potent combination of deep-rooted Backward Classes (BC) movement credentials, strategic candidate positioning, and strong public sympathy enabled YSRCP candidate Chitluru Ramesh Goud to secure the Anantapur Mayoral post, delivering the party’s sole mayoral victory in the state.
Popularly known as ‘BC Ramesh Goud’ for his long-standing leadership in BC agitations and cross-community accessibility, Ramesh Goud entered the race at a critical time for the city’s YSRCP cadre. When the TDP-led alliance assigned the mayoral candidature to the BJP, YSRCP strategically fielded Goud to consolidate the substantial BC electorate and neutralize the BJP’s political narrative.
Throughout the intense campaign, Ramesh Goud effectively matched the opposition’s electioneering while successfully propagating his core campaign slogan, “I am a local.” Despite BJP candidate Ajesh Yadav hailing from the region, Goud’s team effectively framed Yadav as an unfamiliar figure, while youth groups mobilized social media campaigns highlighting Goud’s local availability.
