Punishing the honest

It is indeed strange that honesty and integrity are being punished while dishonesty is being overlooked. The recent revision of ITR's for assessment year 2020-21 is being done with the intention to look deeper into the details furnished by taxpayers to prevent any deliberate attempt to hoodwink the I T dept.

A large number of filers are salaried class who have very little scope for any jugglery. The department prudently keeps a blind eye towards many such assessees comprising of a horde of politicians and other unethical classes.

Sad commentary of getting punished for being patriotic. Yet to find politicians being punished for wealth accruals contrary to their known sources of income. The department should rethink honestly and dispassionately.
