Justice delivered, finally

It was delightful to read the news that four victims of Nirbhaya case were hanged to death at 5:30 am on Friday. Nirbhaya's parents finally got justice after a long duration of seven years.

Through this justice, people's trust in judiciary has increased and also it sent a clear message to antisocial elements, but this is a moment of concern that Nirbhaya's parents had to wait for justice a duration of seven years.

There are a lot of loopholes in our criminal justice system. Today we need to improve our systems and ensure the dignity and safety of women. I hope that similar incident will never happen again, if the systems are improved.

Though finally death penalty has been awarded to the four convicts in the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case at Tihar Jail, it is dismaying that this penalty has been given seven years after the horrific incident.

It is a matter of concern that the legal system in our country is functioning at snail's pace, especially during critical cases like this. Justice delayed is nothing, but justice denied.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Modi, in his address to the nation, urged people of India to stay at homes and avoid public transport such as trains and buses. It is a kind of war which is more deadly.

The number of cases is growing day by day. India presently has around 200 positive cases of corona while four have already died. In such critical situation, cooperation of every individual is of utmost importance and wariness devices must be required for everyone.

I hopefully expect people of India will continue to follow all government instructions thoroughly and overwhelmingly will participate in Janta curfew to abridge the pandemic and infective disease, because we can together defeat this virus.

Put off Class X exams

I request Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to postpone SSC exams as an important measure to fight against coronavirus (Covid-19). As we are in the second stage the virus spread, a crucial time, it is essential that we keep social distance.

We see the sharp growth in spread of virus all parts of the world and India, and also annoying death rate. Students may be unhappy if the exams are postponed as they put lot of time for preparation, however, the life is important. They can write exams after the control of coronavirus.

Ground atmosphere also not suitable for writing exams peacefully. I also request to postpone all types of exams which may create social togetherness, a matter of concern.

With view of preventing coronavirus, the Telangana government has made an apt decision not to run schools, shopping malls and cinema halls because the virus may spread in crowded areas. The government has initiated measures, beating all odds, to prevent coronavirus from spreading.

The government should also provide masks at free of costs in villages and cities through the Medical and Health department as well as stop spreading rumours on coronavirus.

Recently, the government has launched adequate awareness programme with the help of Telecom Department regarding the precautions to be taken to keep away the harmful virus.

At the temples, railway stations, bus stations and examination centres, face masks should be distributed freely to prevent the virus from spreading.

It should also urge the Cultural Department to perform songs and dramas to create awareness on coronavirus.

The vibrant Chief Minister should avail services of the medical department staff including ANMs, GNMs, nurses and doctors (RMP & PMP) to prevent the virus to serve the people. Prevention is better than cure.
