Uppena Movie Review & Rating: Uppena is the new Telugu-language romantic drama film written and directed by debutant Bucchi Babu Sana. The film is produced by Sukumar in collaboration with Naveen Yerenini and Y. Ravi Shankar, under their respective banners Sukumar Writings and Mythri Movie Makers. Devi Sri Prasad scored the music. The film released today and here's the review.

Story:

Aashee (Panja Vaishnav Tej) lives in Uppada. He falls in love with the powerful Rayanam (Vijay Setupathi)'s daughter Bebamma (Krithi Shetty). Even she likes Aashe. When Rayanam came to know about their relationship, what did he do? Did he approve of their love? What happens in the end? Forms the film's story.

Performances:

Each and every single actor in the film has put their best. Vijay Setupathi, especially, has come up with a terrific performance in the movie. He has elevated the film to the next level with his performance. He is there from the beginning to the end and leaves a mark. Both the debutants Vaishnav Tej and Krithi Shetty have given their best for the movie. Their chemistry worked so well in the film. Vaishnav Tej's eyes speak a lot and so is Krithi's smile. They will have a great future in the cinema industry if they pick the right scripts. All the other actors did their best in their limitations.

Technical Aspects:

Technically, the film is very good on many levels. The camera work by Shamdat is excellent. Everyone has given their best for the movie. The music by Devi Sri Prasad is excellent. Along with his audio album, his background score also helped the film reach new heights. The editing is good and the artwork is excellent. The production values are lavish.

Verdict:

Uppena is a regular story that we have been seeing in Telugu cinema for many years. It is the love story of two people belonging to different castes. Caste discrimination is shown well. It was the performances of the lead cast which elevates the movie. Especially, Krithi Shetty impresses us a lot. She has a bright future for sure. Vijay Sethupathi took his character to the next level. Buchi Babu's writing only worked in parts. The first half was engaging but the latter half was not. Only the climax episode may draw some interest. The conclusion is not appealing though. The cinematography and background score helped a few scenes to get elevated. Overall, Uppena is a film that can appeal to only a few sections of the audiences.
