Story:

Vijay (Siddharth) and Arjun (Sharwanand) are best friends. They grow up together and enter the mafia world. Vijay is in love with Maha (Aditi Rao) and Arjun loves Smitha (Anu Emmanuel). After a series of dramatic turns, Vijay leaves the city and returns after 4 years. Why did he leave the city? What happened to Maha? How did their lives affect them? Forms the film's story.

Performances:

Siddharth and Sharwanand are the superstars of the film while Aditi Rao Hydari is a big surprise. She got an author-backed role. Aditi has done a hundred percent justice for her character in the movie. Siddhu and Sharwa played their parts well in both the emotional scenes as well as the action scenes. Interestingly, the actors' chemistry too worked well on the screen. Anu Emmanuel does not have a big scope to perform. Rao Ramesh, Jagapathi Babu, Garuda Ram, and others have given their best too. The film's casting is a huge plus point.

Technical Aspects:

The cinematography of the film is top class. The stunning visuals added beauty to the movie. The music is a letdown. The songs failed to make a mark but the background score is impressive. The score elevated the film perfectly well. The editing is good. Ajay Bhupathi's writing is decent but he failed to bring out the magic of his writing, especially in the film's second half. The film's production values are grand.

Verdict:

Maha Samudram comes to us as a mass action drama. The film's first half is highly impressive. The first half has got all the necessary elements that one would expect from a mass film. However, the second half fails to carry the momentum forward and it is a big minus point. The predictable plot kills the surprise in the screenplay. The twists are good but appear routine. The backdrop is impressive and the director banked on the characters he created. On the whole, Maha Samudram came out well but just like the waves, there are some bouncers in the journey!
