‘Baby’ movie review: Touches deep into the heart
Anand Deverakonda, Vaishnavi Chaitanya, Viraj Ashwin and others starrer “Baby” helmed by Sai Rajesh has hit the theaters today. The movie created huge buzz with its songs and promotional content. Let’s see how the film fares at box-office.
Story
Anand (Anand Deverakonda) and Vaishnavi (Vaishnavi Chaitanya) fall in love while in high school. They hail from a slum, and Anand becomes an auto driver after failing school. However, Vaishnavi moves to college and completely transforms. In college, she becomes close to Viraj (Viraj Ashwin). The story is centered around the lives of Anand, Vaishnavi, and Viraj and how they deal with the problems they face.
Analysis
“Baby,” directed by Sai Rajesh follows the lives of three protagonists: a naive young boy, a girl with lofty aspirations and baffling confusions, and a stereotypically wealthy young man. The girl’s characterisation and the way her story was told sets this love story apart from the typical love triangle plot. Furthermore, the story becomes more moving when things become clearer.
The film’s underlying message is: First love never dies, it is buried forever in the layers of the heart. Sai Rajesh, the film’s writer and director, juggles a narrative that is both poetic and aimed at a young audience. There is a balance between serious moments and more “youthful” appealing ones. Although some of the content may resonate with the intended audience, it seems out of place in the context of the whole. And the “bold dialogues” may be met with a variety of responses.
The interesting aspects of this film are the heroine’s character and the way she develops from a plain girl to a rebellious/confused woman. The interval episode is terrific. This where the narrative reaches its peak. This is when the story reaches its best point. The second half is extremely emotional, but it is also extremely long. The ending, on the other hand, elicits mixed feelings. Some viewers may be turned off by the film’s use of profanity and its bold dialogues.
On a whole, “Baby” is a love story that relies on the characterisation of the protagonists, particularly the girl and boy. Some parts of the film, such as the interval sequences, are terrific. The dialogues are bold. However, the runtime is inexcusably long. Overall, it leaves with mixed feelings, but has a greater emphasis on youth-appealing content.

Anand Deverakonda has unveiled his full potential as an actor through this film. His appearance and body language at different stages of the love story can be easily felt by a youngster watching the film. The role of Anand might surely be a difficult one, but Anand Deverakonda aced it with his acting skills, charm, and personality. Title role of the film, Vaishnavi Chaitanya is truly the surprising element in “Baby.” Her performance as a confused girl was just spellbinding, with all the romantic and emotional scenes. Viraj Ashwin has also appeared in a good role in this film and has put forward a great performance. Youtuber Satwik Anand gets an important role and did justice to that. Viva Harsha and Naga Babu fits into their roles.
Technicalities
Sai Rajesh has directed the film ‘Baby.’ He has been exceptionally good with the writing and the plotline. He has previously penned the story for the blockbuster film “Colour Photo.” The climax was neatly executed, along with great emotional and dramatic scenes. The production values of SKN have been a perfect asset to the film. The film’s songs have been trending all over social media even before the release of the movie. The music by Vijai Bulganin has been extraordinary and has lifted the mood and emotions behind the performances. The composition of music and background by Vijai Bulganin has to be one of the best highlights of the whole movie.
