Andhra Pradesh reported 547 fresh Coronavirus cases taking the total tally to 20,79,763 cases across the state. While coming to fatalities, one death reported on Friday in Visakhapatnam and the toll stands at 14,501. On the other hand, as many as 133 new patients were cured in the last twenty four hours taking the total recoveries to 20,62,290 and there are currently 2972 active cases. According to district-wise data, Visakhapatnam district reported 183 new infections, followed by Chittoor 150 and Krishna 88 while Prakasam district has logged the least cases with 22 new cases in the last twenty-four hours.Read more

Andhra Pradesh government Advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would take a final decision on the employees' fitment in a short while. He recalled that the government has already held talks with the unions several times. TDP national president Chandrababu Naidu said that he had won the elections seven times without campaigning in Kuppam. He said he was emotionally attached to them. He inaugurated the Oxygen Plant at the Government Hospital under the auspices of the NTR Trust as part of his Kuppam tour. Chandrababu later spoke to the media and criticised YS Jagan alleging of doing destructive politics and threatening the opposition parties. Kothagudem MLA Vanama Venkateshwara Rao's son Raghavendra Rao has been suspended by the TRS party on Friday following the allegations of his involvement in suicide abetment case of Palwancha. "With the orders of the TRS supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao orders, the party has been suspending Vanama Raghavendra Rao from the party," the party announced. The police have arrested a man accused of various scams like posing himself as an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) official. Amalapuram DSP Y Madhava Reddy produced the accused at the Mummidivaram police station on Thursday and disclosed the details. According to him, Kashi Prem Kumar from Yanam Ambedkar Nagar came for a gathering here during Ugadi last year. He introduced himself to Postmaster Maddela Venkateswara Rao as an IRS officer and was convinced that he would be promoted as an officer of the Postal Region.Read more

The Manuguru police issued notices to Vanama Rahavendra Rao's house asking him to attend for an inquiry in a case registered against him in 2001. The notice also asked him to appear before Manuguru ASP Sabarish by 12.30 pm. Uncertainity prevailed over the arrest of Vanama Raghavendra Rao in Palwancha family suicide case. When the reports of his arrest hit the headlines, the Kothagudem police said that they have not yet found Raghavendra Rao. The Telangana State Intermediate Board of Education (TSBIE) will release the marks memo of the first year intermediate students at 5 pm today. Students can download the marks memos from the official site -- tsbie.cgg.gov.in. The intermediate board also passed the students who failed in the first year intermediate exams by according minimum marks. Also, it provided an opportunity for the students to get back the fee paid for recounting and reverification of answer scripts. The board also told the students to cancel their applications for recounting and reverification of answer scripts from 5 pm today to January 17. Vijayawada Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested a woman accused of committing a series of thefts on trains and recovered Rs. 8.54 lakh worth of gold jewellery. According to the Railway Police, Khushbu Suresh Jain from Moharampet, Visakhapatnam, along with his family members boarded a train from Ahmedabad to Visakhapatnam on the 3rd of this month. CM YS Jagan will inaugurate the MIG layouts under the Jagananna Smart Township Scheme on the 13th at the Amaravati Township near the Andhra Cricket Association Stadium in Mangalagiri.
