Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will be touring in the districts of erstwhile Warangal tomorrow and will inspect the crops damaged due to unseasonal rainfall. The CM will also interact with the farmers who lost the crops. It is learned that he will visit the villages of Parakala and Narsampet where the crop loss was severe. Agriculture minister Niranjan Reddy and state chief secretary Somesh Kumar and other officials will accompany the Chief Minister tomorrow.Read more

Amaravati: Rebel MP of ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) K. Raghu Rama Krishna Raju has sought four weeks' time to appear before the Andhra Pradesh CID in a case of sedition booked against him last year. The CID had last week served notice on Raju, directing him to appear before it on January 17. The Narasapuram MP wrote to CID on Monday that he was indisposed and hence unable to appear before the investigating official.Read more

The educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh had reopened after the Sankranthi holidays on Monday. However, in the wake of rise in Covid cases in the state, the opposition along with the TDP is seeking the extension of holidays. The TDP national general secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh had written a letter to Chief Minister YS Jagan seeking extension of holidays to educational institutions in the wake of rising coronavirus cases. He reminded that many states across the country have announced holidays for educational institutions. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday has been conducting a review over the covid control measures and the medical health department in the wake of the rising number of cases. Deputy CM Alla Nani, CS Sameer Sharma and senior officials were present. The Andhra Pradesh government has placed a key focus on tracing and testing as part of corona regulation. It has already made all arrangements, including oxygen. Meanwhile, Night curfew will come into effect from tomorrow. Telangana government is likely to take a decision on night curfew in the state in the cabinet meeting today. The meeting is scheduled to be held at Pragati Bhavan at 2 pm today. In the meeting, the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will discuss on the future action plan on the rise in the COVID-19 cases in the states and increase in the positivity rate. In a tragic incident reported in Gokavaram of East Godavari, a father Tathuri Bangarraju poisoned his 10-year-old son and later tried to commit suicide on Saturday after drinking a rat poison. The local sub-inspector Shubha Sekhar, who received the information rushed them to the hospital and the condition of the duo is said to be stable. Going into the details, Bangarraju whose wife is in Kuwait has a 14-year-old daughter and 12 and 10-year-old sons. The three are staying at their grandmother's house in Vangalapudi and enrolled in hostels for study. On the 13th of this month, on the occasion of Sankranti, Bangarraju came to his father-in-law's house in Vangalapudi. He is said to have family quarrels with his wife.

A fast food eatery owner was attacked by a man after being rejected food supply at night here at Jeedimetla. The victim was identified as Bidyadhar (32), the owner of a fast food centre at Subhash Nagar bus stop. Going into details, the accused, Yasin was running a pan shop near the fast food centre.
