Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan expressed concern over the increase in the number of coronavirus cases. He further added that the people need to be vigilant and advised to take precautions. He expressed concern over the increase in the number of cases on Sunday where 1.80 lakh people were infected with corona across the country including 1200 cases being registered in Andhra Pradesh and 1500 cases in Telangana.Read more

The Sweet and kite festival in Hyderabad has been cancelled this year for the second time in a row due to the increase in COVID-19 cases. The event was scheduled to take place between January 14 and 16 at the parade ground in Secunderabad. This comes after the government's orders to impose a ban on rallies, public meetings and public gatherings related to religious, political and cultural. The kite festival is being organised by the Tourism Department since 2016 during Sankranti festival. In 2018, a department also added sweet festival to popularise traditional sweets prepared by people from various states who have made Hyderabad as their home.Read more

The surface periodicity in the southwestern Bay of Bengal and surrounding areas extended at an average elevation of 5.8 km above sea level. As a result, the meteorological department has forecasted rain for next three days in parts of Andhra Pradesh. The South-Central Railway has enhanced platform ticket prices in the view of heavy passenger rush for Sankranti festival. South Central Railway CPRO Rakesh said that increased platform rates will be effective till January 20. He added that the platform ticket prices has been increased to reduce the rush of non-passengers who accompany the passengers. The platform ticket price at Secunderabad has been increased from Rs 10 to Rs 50 while the platform ticket prices at Nampally, Kacheguda, Warangal, Khammam, Lingampalli, Kazipet, Mahabubnagar, Ramagundam, Bhadrachalam, Bidar, Begumpet railway station have been increased from Rs 10 to Rs 20. The railway department said that the prices have been hiked considering the increase in passenger rush for Sankranti.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has virtually inaugurated 144 oxygen plants in the state from the CM's camp office in Tadepalli. Speaking on the occasion, CM Jagan said that he is dedicating 144 oxygen plants to the nation. He said that the AP government is taking steps to supply oxygen on its own he said and offering a 30 percent subsidy on oxygen plants in private hospitals with 100 beds. "We are providing oxygen facility in every government hospital," he said.Read more

Health minister Harish Rao on Monday launched booster dose of covid vaccine here at Unani hospital in Charminar. Local MLA Mumtaz Amjad Khan got his first booster dose of vaccine. Across Telangana, the government is administering booster dose of covid vaccine for healthcare, frontline workers and the citizens above 60 years of age with prolonged illness. The booster will be given to the citizens who have the the first two doses of covid vaccine. In Telagnana, a total of 8.32 lakh senior citizens of 41.60 lakh are suffering from pre-existing medical conditions and all of them will be given the booster dose. Including the healthcare workers and frontline warriors, there are a total of 6.34 lakh people will be given the booster dose.Read more

In a gruesome incident, a man's severed head was found at the foot of idol of Goddess of Mahankali. The incident witnessed on Hyderabad-Nagarjunsagar state high way at virat nagar of Gollapally village of chintapally mandal in the district. The man was murdered by unidentified persons. The details of the deceased and motive behind the cruel act of accused is yet to be accertained. On information, local police rushed to the spot and took up investigation.

The Andhra Pradesh government headed by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is taking all measures in containing coronavirus ahead of the third wave. As part of it, CM YS Jagan today will inaugurate the oxygen plants set up in government hospitals. About 144 Oxygen plants were set up at Rs 426 crore, which will be virtually launched by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.Read more
