Except CM, no representation from Chittoor in the cabinet
For the first time since 1994, Chittoor district has no representation in the state cabinet except the Chief Minister. Several leaders including Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu, Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy, R Chenga Reddy, G Aruna Kumari, N Amarnath Reddy, N Siva Prasad, P Ramachandra Reddy, K Narayana Swamy an RK Roja have served as ministers in the cabinets of NT Rama Rao, N Chandrababu Naidu, YS Rajasekhar Reddy, K Rosaiah, N Kiran Kumar Reddy and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Even during the tenures of Naidu and Kiran as Chief Ministers, ministerial representation was there from the erstwhile Chittoor district. But it is for the first time since 1994, the district left with no Minister though the CM belongs to it.
This time also former Minister N Amaranatha Reddy and newly elected MLA N Kishore Kumar Reddy were said to have high expectations of becoming ministers. Many people have anticipated that Amaranatha will get the ministerial berth beyond any doubts.
It was felt that due to caste equations and other compulsions, Naidu could not accommodate anyone from his own district. It has to be seen how he will accommodate the aspirants in other key posts in the coming days.
