Balancing dosha's
Dosha's in Ayurvedic parlance refers to your unique physical and mental constitution. Each individual is born with a certain set of dosha's - a dominant dosha or a combination of dosha's.
The dosha's need to be in harmony to ensure a good physical and mental health. However once elevated they can lead to issues in areas, which they regulate, moderate, and control.
Scalp being one of the regulating areas, cannot withstand the elevated state and this causes an abnormal environment for the hair follicles.
Vatadosha when elevated:
Elevated vatadosha can lead to dehydrated scalp, hair fall, thinning of hair, dry scalp, dandruff, cracked scalp surface and more.
Pitta dosha when elevated:
Elevated pitta doshacan lead to loss of hair caused by greasiness, overheat, scalp inflammation, weaker roots, dandruff, inflammatory diseases on the scalp, and more.
Kaphadosha when elevated:
Elevated kaphadoshacan lead to excess oil production on the scalp, greasy scalp, itching, greasy dandruff, hair fall and more.

Healthy and balanced diet
Hair requires biotin and keratin proteins to grow. This is provided if you have a healthy and a balanced diet rich in vitamins, proteins and iron.
According to Ayurveda, you should eat more of natural foods than processed ones for a faster, better and more natural absorption and retention of nourishment.
So try to include food such as eggs, green leafy vegetables like spinach, beans, soyabean, seeds, fish etc. in your daily diet.
Drink water to balance body temperature
It is a known fact that heat due to dehydration or excess sweat can lead to loss of hair and bad health in general.
It is hence important to drink lots of water to flush out toxins from your body and keep a healthy digestive tract that would lead to flow of nutrients across your body, including your scalp.
Maintain a manageable hair length & trim regularly
It is necessary to trim the split ends on a regular basis for better and faster hair growth.Ideally a trim every three to six months is recommended.
Massage your hair with natural hair oil
Oil massage plays an important role in Ayurveda. It not only stimulates the scalp and increases blood flow; it also provides nourishment to the hair root.
Also, natural oils have a moisturising character which help your scalp stay hydrated and tangle-free.
Reduce stress through meditation
Yogic practices and overall health is an integral part of Ayurvedic hair care. Hair loss can also be triggered due to high levels of stress and anxiety.
This can cause temporary hair loss called telogen effluvium. During telogen effluvium, hair follicles are pushed into telogen phase, also known as the resting phase. Hair cells stops producing new hair and at the same time, hair sheds rapidly.
Do not wash your hair often, only use natural shampoos
Shampooing everyday causes the natural oils present on your scalp to escape.
These oils help in blood circulation and keep your hair hydrated. Absence of essential oil causes hair to dry out, become frizzy and brittle, eventually leading to hair loss.
Also, another mistake that most of us do is combing on wet hair. Hair roots are most vulnerable when wet. They tend to break when brushed or combed.
Protect your hair from external aggressors
Instead of using artificial hair protection spray, covering your hair with a soft cotton cloth, cap or always wearing headgear when out in the open is recommended.
Pollution and sun's UV rays can do only harm and no good to your hair. Small particles stick on your hair that blocks oxygen from entering into your hair cells.
This leads to weak hair roots, dry scalp, brittle hair and finally hair loss.
Be patient when using an ayurvedic product
Use Ayurvedic hair products or natural hair care solutions but do not shift or change products often because you aren't seeing an immediate change.
Hair takes time to change for the better and heal. Keep using a product that you believe is natural and good for you even if you aren't seeing a change. Patience is the key to good hair health.
