Sleep is one of the most salient parts of our life. The better hours of sleep we get, the better we look - healthy and fit. Getting proper sleep at the right time also improves your mental and physical health. Even the functioning of our brain works properly. Well, these days we see the complete opposite of it.
Men and women suffer a lot of problems due to lack of sleep. We often see "lack of sleeping problems" with working moms. On one side they work late nights and on the other side, they make their kids sleep at night. This problem is ubiquitous. However, there are certain reasons that you should know why sleeping 7-8 hours in a day is important.
Leads to obesity: Sleep deficiency is linked to many problems, out of which obesity is one of them. A recent study says that lack of sleep changes the metabolism and let your body to store fat. A study by Dr.Cedernaes a circadian researcher at Uppsala University in Sweden and the paper's first author, also said that those who sleep less, tend to eat more and opt for higher-calorie food. This makes them obese, which leads to other diseases like heart diseases and diabetes.
Depression and mood swings: Less sleep causes various hassles like anxiety, anger, depression which tends to mood swings. We see this most common in youngsters and working employees. Seriously it's a malign sign physically and mentally. This indirectly drains your motivation levels and affirmative interest towards work.
Trouble in decision making: Everyday in our life, we come across a lot of stuff to deal with, either related to work or life. So, it's very important to have a good knack over decision making. But sleep deprivation cascades your confidence in taking decisions. It most affects when you're the boss of your company and you need to take an important call which has to go with two options – Yes or no. So, it is advisable to adjust in such a way that you end up sleeping 8 hours in a day cumulatively.
Taking a long time to finish a task: We all have something to deal with regularly. Either it can be college work or work at the office. Unfortunately, due to our self-actions against sleep, the task which needs to be done in one hour might take more than 3-4 hours. A bad sign of progress. Bad sleep can kill you in various ways, either internally or externally or sometimes both. It affects your performance at work as well. To kick start your day well at your work, you need sound resonated sleep.
Memory problems: According to UC Berkeley sleep researcher Matthew Walker, an associate professor of psychology and neuroscience: "What we have discovered is a dysfunctional pathway that helps explain the relationship between brain deterioration, sleep disruption and memory loss as we get older and with that, a potentially new treatment avenue." He also added, "When we are young, we have deep sleep that helps the brain store and retain new facts and information," Walker said. "But as we get older, the quality of our sleep deteriorates and prevents those memories from being saved by the brain at night." So, it is essential to have a sound memory to store information in a better possible way and respond appropriately to all the matters and happenings in and around you.
