We can have a feast at home during this lockdown by trying some favourite traditional dishes on this Eid.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the Ramadan. People all over the world are gearing up to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, and preparations are on in full swing. Due to the lockdown, the Eid namaz should be performed at homes instead of in the masjids. One must stay home and help to curb coronavirus.
But the lockdown cannot stop us from enjoying the spirit of Eid. We can still have a feast at home during this lockdown by trying some favourite traditional dishes. Here we have a list of 10 special delicacies for you that you can try on Eid.
1. Sheer Khurma
Ramadan or Meethi Eid is incomplete without this meetha Sheer Khurma. This Eid, treat yourself and your loved ones with this splendid Eid staple. Hearty sweet milk pudding with special kind of vermicelli topped with chunky dry fruits. This is mouth-watering.
2. Khubaani ka Meetha
This traditional irresistible sweet dish is originated in Hyderabad. This heavenly delicacy is made with simple ingredients of dried apricots, sugar, rose water and saffrons strands. This tasty dessert was initially served and savoured by The Royals.
3. Kimami Sewaiyan
Similar to Sheer khurma, the main ingredients of this dessert are milk and vermicelli, but when compared to Sheer Khurma, its consistency is slightly thicker. To make it richer dry fruits and khoya are added in the tasty mix.
4. Kheer
Thickened milk pudding with grounded rice, the fragrant delicacy is garnished with lots of, dry fruits.
5. Biryani
Did you guess this right? A typical Eid is incomplete without Biryani. Aromatic rice dish layered with luscious pieces of your choice of meat, Biryani is loved by all age groups. Club it up with raita or spicy bagara salan, and you would get the taste of Biryani.
6. Gajar ka Halwa
This dessert made with carrots, milk, ghee, and sugar and garnished with dry fruits. This halwa can be either made on the stove or a microwave.
7. Shahi Tukda
You can call this dessert a relative of Dabal ka Meetha. Toasted bread, milk, nuts, ghee, sugar and khoya; this is all that goes into this delectable dessert.
8. Haleem
Traditional Ramadan special delicacy Haleem, a health packed bowl is a popular Iftar staple. This authentic dish which needs hours to be prepared with ingredients like daliya, mutton, spices and pulses are pound to get the best taste. This flavoursome treat you should not miss.
9. Mutton Khorma
This healthy mutton curry is packed with aromatic spices, saffron, cashew nut paste, and rose water. You can pair this delicious and spicy mutton Khorma with sheermal. This taste best when combined with bagara khana (flavoured rice).
10. Nihari
Nihari is originated from the Arabic word 'Nahar', means 'day'. Traditionally it is a breakfast dish, which is prepared with a range of gentle spices and kewda water. But you can enjoy this dish any time of the day over a gathering with family.
