Author Benyamin's new book also in audio format
- The newest novel from the JCB prize-winning author
- Benyamin, ‘Body and Blood’ is out simultaneously in three formats, paperback, e-book, and audio.
Novelist and short story writer Benyamin's Aadujeevitham was a huge success that has been reprinted more than a hundred times and has sold over two lakh copies. It won him the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 2009 and has been translated into many languages. The English translation, Goat Days, was shortlisted for the Man Asian Literary Prize and the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature. In 2018, his novel Jasmine Days won the JCB Prize for Literature and the Crossword Book Award for fiction in translation. The follow-up to it, Al Arabian Novel Factory, was published in 2019.
His latest novel 'Body and Blood' follows the lives of men and women caught in a web of criminally orchestrated accidents and medically induced comas. The book is by turns introspective and thrilling – a meditation on faith and God that also holds up a mirror to the power and corruption of organized religion.
The life of four friends changes forever when one of them, Midhun is injured in a hit-and-run incident, no one anticipate that the minor scrapes and wounds he has sustained will suddenly turn fatal. But that is exactly what happens, and after his death, his organs are donated and end up saving several lives. Soon, however, his friends Rithu and Ragesh and his lover, Sandhya, begin to suspect there is more to the story than meets the eye. As they delve deeper into the chain of events and the people behind the religious fellowship they are all a part of, they discover that answers are hard to come by, justice elusive and closure next to impossible…
