The 47th edition of the Annual Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroha, is being held in Hyderabad, on 29th and 30th of November at the CCRT (Centre for Culture Resources and Training), Madhapur, Hyderabad.
Hyderabad, 28th November 2019: The 47th edition of the Annual Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroha, is being held in Hyderabad, on 29th and 30th of November at the CCRT (Centre for Culture Resources and Training), Madhapur, Hyderabad.
As always, the Festival brings to music lovers of Hyderabad, performances by a range of talented Musicians. Every year, many music lovers travel to Hyderabad from the world over to attend this Annual Festival.
The line-up of performing artistes for the 47th Sangeet Samaroha, are as follows:
Friday 29th November 7:30 pm onwards: Madhavi Mudgal – Odissi Dance & Jayteerth Mevundi – Hindustani Vocal.
Saturday 30th November, 7:30 pm onwards: Rattan Mohan Sharma - Hindustani Vocal & Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj ji – Hindustani Vocal.
Co – Artistes:- Vocal – Tripti Mukherjee, Ankita Joshi, Swar Sharma; Tabla – Ramkumar Mishra, Harijit Singh, Aditya Narayan Banerjee, Nikhil Phatak & Harmonium :- Surendra Bharati, Abhinay Ravande.
A Brief Background:
The festival is held in memory of Pandit Jasraj's gurus, father Sangeet Ratna Pandit Motiram and his elder brother Sangeet Mahamahopadhyaya Pandit Maniram.
A few hours before Sangeet Ratna Pandit Motiram was to be honoured as the Royal singer in the court of the Nizam, (today known as the Chowmahalla Palace), he left for his heavenly abode. At the time, Pandit Jasraj was only 4 years old. Thus, Pandit Jasraj has a deep emotional bond with the City of Hyderabad & the people of Hyderabad. As a Musical tribute to his Gurus, Pandit Jasraj began this Festival in 1972.
This festival has been graced and honoured by the Honourable Governors of now Telangana & Andhra Pradesh in the past, and many eminent people of the city, students and the people at large. Thousands of people throng to this Samaroha, across all age groups, especially the youth. It is also a tourism attraction as people from many different parts of the world travel to attend this musical festival.
Pandit Motiram Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroha has showcased performances of many eminent artistesin the past from varied genres of Music and Dance. To name a few – Late Pt. Ravi Shankar, Late Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Late Dr. ML Vasanthakumari, Late Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Dr. L Subramaniam, Pt. Birju Maharaj, Allarmell Valli, Chitra Visveswaran, Late Smt. Kishori Amonkar,Smt Girja Devi, Dr. Padma Subramaniam, Malika Sarabhai, Leela Sampson, Shankar Mahadevan and many others.
A unique initiative: In the past 46 years he has never accepted any kind of sponsorship, or sold tickets for organising this event, this is absolutely free for all to attend. For this unique service, Pandit Jasraj ji has been given the title 'Son of Hyderabad', by the people of Hyderabad at the hands of Bharat Ratna Smt. M.S. Subbulakshmi.
Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj ji is the only musician in the world to do a festival of such large scale by himself without any support of sponsorship or ticket sales.
