GITAM Deemed to be University is hosting DST-INSPIRE (Department of Science and Technology – Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspire Research) residential camp -2019 from 6-10 December, informed here on Friday by GITAM Deemed to be University Institute of Science Principal Prof. M.Sarathchandra Babu.
Visakhapatnam: GITAM Deemed to be University is hosting DST-INSPIRE (Department of Science and Technology – Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspire Research) residential camp -2019 from 6-10 December, informed here on Friday by GITAM Deemed to be University Institute of Science Principal Prof. M.Sarathchandra Babu.
Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research" (INSPIRE) is an innovative programme initiated by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, to attract talents to the excitement and study of science at an early age. The Science Camps will be addressed by top scientists of India including Bhatnagar Awardees.
The students will also be exposed to hands-on experience in advanced laboratories. Students pursuing science in school at XI-XII standard during the academic year 2019-20 will be selected and shortlisted for the science camp if they had secured a minimum of 94.2% and above in 10th standard.
For attending INSPIRE Science Camp, student need not pay any amount. Expenditures towards travel (to and fro), accommodation, food etc., for all students attending science camps will be taken care of by DST-INSPIRE program through GITAM Deemed to be University.
Opportunity to interact with scientists
Under the innovative programme, the five-day INSPIRE internship during December 6-10 is a component of 'Scheme for Early Attraction of Talents for Science' (SEATS) under which students are provided opportunity to interact with top scientists.
This year DST-INSPIRE camp organisers invited the scientists from Dr.Bhakti Basu (Scientist-F, BARC Molecular Biology Division), Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Awardee Dr.Sandip Basu (Radiation Medicine Centre, Mumbai), Prof.A.Subramanyam (IIT Madras Physics Professor), Prof.A.Behera (NIT Roorkela Mathematics Professor), Prof.GDSharma ( Vice-Chancellor, Bilaspur University, Chattisgarh), Prof.D.B.Ramachary (University of Hyderabad Catalysis Laboratory Professor), Prof.Sharmistha Banerjee (University of Hyderabad Biochemistry Professor), Prof.SKMehta ( Punjab University Chemistry Professor), Prof.PBKavi Kishore ( Osmania University) to mentor the students during the science camp.
According to the organising committee the DST guidelines permit only 200 students for INSPIRE camp. Interested schools can directory contact GITAM Institute of Science to send their students before commencing date.
