'Move The Wheel Foundation' was started by four people, Anjana Kumar Mangalapalli, Sunita Reddy Thadasina, Brunda Aluri and M Seetharamayya in 2010. It was launched with the aim to encourage active participation from the society for empowering the children to face life situations with confidence and grace.

"It all started when Sunita approached me to donate some of her kids' old crayons. When we came to know that she was visiting a nearby government school to teach spoken English, we joined her. A couple of years before we were a registered Foundation, we were visiting and volunteering at the Government Upper Primary School in Gowlidoddi. We played with the children and they in turn opened up their hearts and their lives to us. They inspired us to keep going and to take the next step. They made us see the potential for development" says Anjana.

"Move The Wheel Foundation' is a non-profit educational trust. We work in the education sector, supporting deserving students and conduct child centered community-based enrichment activities. Our activities encourage children to attend school regularly and experience holistic education. They let children explore multiple intelligences and provide a platform for them to showcase their talents" she added.

Since then, they work under three programmes viz.

School in Smiles

Activities under School in Smiles aim at giving childhood a chance and making school time fun to improve attendance. They are conducted to let the children experience the simple pleasures of childhood. Activities like celebrations & treats make the children look forward to enjoying their time at the school.

Pro-Literacy

Pro-Literacy activities aim at building basic reading and writing skills so that the child has a chance for further education. They use attractive books and interesting worksheets to build skills like listening, visualisation and thought sequencing. They help improve attention span for better retention of learnt matter.

Life Skills

The aim of Life Skills programme is to build capacities that help children respond positively to challenging life issues. Life Skill Activities build responsibility, teamwork, dependability, cooperation, tolerance, grit, perseverance and respect that are as important as the ability to read and write in order for a person to be truly successful.

One of the most important projects is 'We Matter Programme'. It is Move The Wheel Foundation's child empowerment project. This is an exercise to build a solution-based thought process among the children. It builds a sense of self-worth and imbibes an attitude of positive change.

'Our activities empower the participating children to explore ways of giving back to the community. After the activity is completed, the children realise that they don't have to be at the receiving end all the time. They understand that the contributions of the teachers, the parents, members of community like us and themselves matter for the well-being of the society' Anjana added.
