IIIT Naya Raipur inducts new batch of students
Chhattisgarh: International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Naya Raipur started its four-day orientation programme on Tuesday for inducting its new batch of B.Tech., M.Tech. and Ph.D. students.
Welcoming the guests and the new students on the first day of the orientation programme, Vice Chancellor and Director of IIIT-Naya Raipur, Dr. Pradeep K. Sinha, congratulated the students for excelling in a highly competitive selection process and securing admission in IIIT-Naya Raipur to pursue their studies further. Dr. Sinha, explained the new entrants that the orientation programme shall provide them an overview of the complete realm of IIIT-NR life, from its academics to social activities. It will offer them a strong overview of academic expectations, so that they are better prepared to meet the challenges of this institute's academic and shall offer all the information required to quickly acclimatise in the new surroundings and the new people.
Dr. Pramod Sadarjoshi, Founder & CEO, Talentsmith Consulting, Mumbai delivered the keynote address motivating the students for choosing engineering as a profession. He highlighted on the main points that students should focus for becoming successful in life. He mentioned that for professional success, students must learn Change Management, Diversity Management, Relationship Management and Professional ethics.
K.C. Devasenapathi, CEO, CHiPS congratulated the students for choosing IIIT-NR for pursuing their engineering. He spoke about how to be successful, giving his own examples from his life. He guided the students by saying that while working on projects, they should identify the problem statements, affecting the stakeholders and work accordingly. He ensured full support of Chhattisgarh Government to the institute in meeting its objective of becoming a premier technical institute of the country. He also elaborated on the internships and incubation facilities the CHiPS offers, which may be availed by the students of IIIT-NR.
Dr. Rajarshi Mahapatra, Dean (Academics), IIIT-NR presented an overview of the orientation programme, which has been divided into ten sessions spread over four days and also proposed the vote of thanks for the forenoon session.
In the afternoon session titled "Our IIIT-NR Family", Dr. Pradeep K. Sinha, Vice Chancellor and Director, gave an insight of the vision and mission of IIIT-NR and the values driving IIIT-NR to become a premier institution. He also introduced the new students to the cultural aspects of IIIT-NR campus, covering various Do's and Don'ts of campus life at IIIT-NR.
This was followed by an address by Dr. B.K. Panigrahy, Registrar, IIIT-NR in which he covered the various facilities available in the institute, associated rules and regulations and anti-ragging provisions at the institute.
Siddhant Dash, an alumnus of the institute, shared his experience of four years spent at IIIT-NR and briefed the new entrants about the success he has achieved by being a student at IIIT-NR and securing admission in Cornell University, USA.
Later, there was an open house interaction with new students and their parents, in which they clarified their doubts about the stay and studies at IIIT-NR. Registrar, CFAO and Dean (Academics) answered the queries.
Sessions on academics, administration and various other activities including two sessions on "Ethics" by Prof. B. Subramaniam (IIT-Chennai) have been scheduled on consecutive days. The orientation program will conclude with a cultural event session, in which the new entrants shall get a chance to showcase their talent.
