The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) and Netflix have announced scholarships for 100 students pursuing professional programmes in creative technology and digital media. The scholarships will provide financial support of up to 80 per cent of programme fees.

Applications are open across India until September 30 under the Netflix India Storytelling Initiative. The scholarships cover six programmes, including two one-year diploma courses and four six-month certificate programmes.

The programmes cover Interactive Comics and Sequential Arts, Visual Effects Mastery, Virtual Art Department Content Creation, Media Tech Workflow, Art of Character Animation, and E-Sports and Gaming Management.

Chanchal Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Chairman of the IICT Board, said the initiative seeks to connect creative education with evolving requirements in the audio-visual, animation, visual effects, gaming and extended reality sectors.

Monika Shergill, Vice President, Content, Netflix India, said students would gain opportunities to develop skills in areas including animation, visual effects, gaming and comics, along with exposure to professional practices.

Netflix has also contributed to the curriculum development of IICT’s Visual Effects Mastery and Media Tech Workflow programmes.

Dr Vishwas Deoskar, CEO, IICT, said industry inputs can help align professional education with changing technologies and workflows. The initiative combines academic learning, industry perspectives and financial support for students.
