Hyderabad parents contributing equally towards their children's education
With the new academic session underway, students all over India are abuzz with discussions about their new classes and course materials.
Hyderabad: With the new academic session underway, students all over India are abuzz with discussions about their new classes and course materials.
To understand the general outlook towards parental support in terms of academics, Brainly, world's largest online peer-to-peer academic learning community, recently conducted a survey amongst its Indian user base.
The survey, which witnessed an active participation of more than 2500 students from around the country, drew key insights from Hyderabad.
The survey revealed that while parents actively invest their time and efforts in teaching their children, the children felt the need for concepts to be better-explained by them.
For instance, although around 48 per cent of the parents spend more than two hours every day with their children to help them study, the need for more time to be invested was felt.
Moreover, 54 per cent of these children acknowledged how their parents have enough knowledge and expertise regarding their subjects and courses, but they would like their parents to learn about these subjects further in order to help them better.
On a positive note, more than half of the children (57 per cent) appreciated how their parents encourage them to ask whatever doubts they have without any inhibitions, and try to work on those together. Among the subjects, Mathematics emerged as the top one, with 42 per cent of these children seeking their parents' help for the same.
Second place was tied with Science & Language subjects like Telugu getting equal priority with 25 per cent each. A unique factor that was observed by the survey was that Hyderabad parents are equally contributing towards their children's education.
Furthermore, around 45 per cent of these parents were observed to rely on textbooks and notes, whereas around 35 per cent of them seek help from online learning sites like Brainly for teaching their children.
Speaking on the insights, Michal Borkowski, CEO, Brainly remarked, "When compared to other cities, Hyderabad stands out as one of those cities wherein both parents are equally contributing towards their children's academic growth. This thereby shows a further impact wherein the subject focus was equally divided in second place between science and language subjects. "
With a monthly Indian user-base of more than 15 million and growing, Brainly has emerged as a premier tool for facilitation of education in the digital era. Through its unique approach of peer-to-peer learning, Brainly enables students to get acquainted with academic concepts to their very core.
